Website of the Week: Woot.Com

Posted on

The Website of the Week for this week is Woot.Com. It is one of the best websites out there for online shopping.  Their tag line is, “One Day, One Deal.” And they do just that. Every day, they sell one thing and only one thing at a really discounted price until that item runs out of stock. The exception to the rule being that, every now and then they have a “Woot Off.” They do this in order to clear out their warehouse and sell multiple items, one at a time, until they run out of each in turn. Another plus is that no matter what you buy, the shipping is always $5.

In their own words:

“What is Woot and who’s behind it?
Woot is a gaggle of unique companies. Or half a gaggle, at least. Woot Services LLC operates the websites and keeps the motor purring; Woot Workshop LLC provides creative content and mans the stereo for the ride; and Woot, Inc. sells the merchandise and pays for the gas. The aforementioned websites, of which is the alpha URL, focus on selling cool stuff cheap and encouraging (almost) unfiltered community discussion about that cheap stuff. The probably unreliable hivemind of the Internet has more to say about us in this Wikipedia article.”

In addition to Woot.Com itself, there also exists a family of sister sites. Deals.Woot whose slogan is, “One Community, Every Deal,” meaning that the fans of Woot nominate special deals for the site and it has several available at once.  There is also Wine.Woot which is like the normal Woot site in that they have one deal a day, but it is always wine or wine related such as fancy cheese. Another is Shirt.Woot which features a different T-shirt every day. Kids.Woot features a different child related item, mostly toys, every day. Home.Woot has a different household related item every day, such as tupperware. Lastly, Sellout.Woot is very similar to the original Woot site, but carries slightly different items although still doing one day deals. The best part is that all of the sites (except Deals.Woot) have Woot Offs fairly often allowing you to get a bunch of cool items in one day.

I hope this helps some of you save money while getting neat stuff.  If you shop smart you can really save some money on big ticket items. Until next time, keep Making a Homestead, one day at a time.
